Roda Golf and Beach Resort

Designed and built by Calidona - Roda Golf and Beach Resort is a 5 star residential and tourist complex occupying a million square metres on a beautiful site close to the beaches of the Mar Menor in Murcia, Spain. The Golf Resort is managed by the De Vere Group who are well known in the UK for their golf courses and hotels including "The Belfy". Murcia - The Regional Capital

Murcia is only 30 minutes away, and is often described as one of the most beautiful and historic cities in the country. Murcia is also the fastest growing city in Spain. The city stands on the banks of the river and enjoys all year round sunshine. There is a great deal of Moorish influence in the city, not least of all the impressive city walls. After the re-conquest, the 20 mosques in the city were turned into churches. The Cathedral is the most highly prized building in the city. The first foundation stone was laid in 1388 by Bishop Pedrosa. It took four centuries to complete.

With an abundance of fine culinary delights in the many restaurants in the city with numerous coffee shops and tapas bars you will find exploring the City’s historic and cultural sights very entertaining. For those who wish to explore the shopping delights of Murcia you can find many designer shops along the cobbled back streets and the day to day shopping on the high street with two large el Corte Ingles stores.

In all, Murcia has everything to offer the visitor and you can almost certainly guarantee that no matter what time of year you visit, you will be wrapped up in some kind of fiesta or celebration. You will find the people pleasant and friendly towards tourists.

Cartagena - An ancient Roman city

Ancient Cartagena goes back to Roman times with much remaining of those days. Visit the port area which welcomes ships and boats of all sizes and don't miss the prototype of all submarines designed by Isaac Peral. Museums to cater for all interests including one in an air raid shelter. International music festival every July with music from around the world.

Los Alcazares - A traditional Spanish town, five minutes away

Los Alcazares (pronounced 'los-alcatha-res') is situated in the Murcia region of south-eastern Spain, also known as the Costa Calida. The town sits on the western shore of the Mar Menor, a saltwater lagoon separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a 22 kilometer long strip of land called La Manga. The area enjoys an average of 320 days of sunshine each year. Bars, cafes and restaurants provide drinks, tapas, meals and entertainment, and the warm water of the Mar Menor helps make the town a paradise for bathers and water sports enthusiasts. The mineral-rich water of the Mar Menor is revered for its health-giving properties and the town still has thermal baths which have existed since Roman times.

The Mar Menor

The Mar Menor ("little sea") is the largest salt water lake in europe offering safe bathing and every water sport you can imagine.Walk or cycle almost all the way around the 56kms never straying from the coast. Aches and pains? - head for the "Las Salinas" pools at Lo Pagan for the internationally renowned healing remedies from the sea. Shop every day at the street markets at the small towns around the lake and relish the sea food - don't miss the caldero and the Mar Menor prawns. And when you have done all this take a trip to the famous La Manga strip on the eastern edge of the Mar Menor where you will find the private Roda Beach Club overlooking the Mediterranean. Relax!
